In select cases, implants can be placed directly after extraction for faster treatment progression.
For patients with heightened anxiety, complex dental needs or medical conditions requiring deeper sedation, general anaesthesia can offer a controlled option, administered with appropriate clinical safeguards. At Couture Implant Centre™, this service is available in-house within our fully licensed facility, administered by a qualified medical anaesthetist.
Every treatment is planned around your comfort, safety and recovery from start to finish.
General anaesthesia allows you to undergo dental treatment in a fully unconscious state, monitored continuously by a qualified medical anaesthetist. It is often used for more complex procedures such as All-On-4 Plus® surgery, full-mouth dental implants or extensive surgical extractions where deeper sedation is required. Unlike IV sedation, which keeps you conscious but relaxed, general anaesthesia removes awareness for the duration of your treatment.
At Couture Implant Centre™, this service is delivered in-house within our licensed facility. Every case is assessed thoroughly to confirm suitability, safety and clear coordination with your dental team. We review your medical history, liaise with our anaesthetist and plan every detail in advance, so eligible patients can complete necessary treatment in a calm, controlled environment.

Some patients require a deeper level of sedation for complex or extended dental procedures. If you have experienced anxiety during past treatments, or you are planning advanced surgery such as full-arch implants, general anaesthesia may be suitable. We assess each patient’s medical history and treatment needs to determine whether this option is appropriate.

We carry out a detailed health check to confirm it is safe for you, working closely with our in-house anaesthetist. General anaesthesia is not necessary for every treatment, but when it is the right choice it can support a more controlled and efficient dental experience.

General anaesthesia places you in a fully unconscious state for the duration of your procedure, with your breathing, heart rate and other vital signs monitored continuously by a qualified medical anaesthetist. In dentistry it is generally reserved for longer or more complex surgery, or for patients whose anxiety or medical needs make treatment under local anaesthetic impractical.
Eligibility depends on your overall health, medical history and the complexity of your dental treatment. During your consultation we review your health conditions and medications, and you will also meet one of our qualified anaesthetists. This confirms that general anaesthesia is both safe and appropriate for your situation. If required, we will also liaise with your GP or medical specialist before confirming the treatment plan.
You wake in our designated recovery area under the care of trained clinical staff, who monitor your vital signs and comfort until the anaesthetist clears you for discharge. Most patients go home the same day, once fully alert, and need a responsible adult to take them home and stay with them overnight.
Most patients feel drowsy for several hours afterwards. Full recovery usually occurs within 24 hours, although some people may take longer depending on the procedure.
General anaesthesia is quoted as part of your overall treatment plan, so you can see the anaesthetist’s fee alongside the dental component before you commit. Payment plans are available through TLC, humm and Afterpay, and we can help you apply for early release of your Super through our partner MySuperCare.
