The First 48 Hours
The initial 24 to 48 hours after All-On-4 Plus® implant surgery are the most important part of early recovery. Swelling, bruising, and some pain are common. Patients should rest with their heads elevated and avoid strenuous activity during this period. Cold compresses can provide relief, and pain medication may be prescribed.
Getting Back to Routine
After the first couple of days, patients can usually resume light daily activities. Hard foods should be avoided, and a soft diet is recommended for the first week or two after surgery. Some soreness and swelling may remain for several days, and physical demands should be kept to a minimum.
Longer-Term Healing
While patients can return to work and normal routines fairly quickly, it takes around three to six months for the bone to integrate with the implants through a process called osseointegration. Regular follow-up appointments allow the dental team to monitor progress. The implants become more stable as integration progresses.
Individual Factors
Recovery timelines may be shorter or longer depending on the patient’s age, health status, bone condition, and other individual factors. Those with denser bone may heal more quickly, for example. Complications such as infection can prolong healing.
